And soon their uneasy friendship changes into an unlikely romance. But can a football player, a lawyer and a baby really make a family?

"SUMMER AT THE LAKE is another Linda Barrett classic, heart-warming to the core and filled with tender romance. Admiration and kudos for Ms. Barrett for tackling such a horrific sensitive subject, like child sexual assault, and handling it with insight and thoughtfulness. SUMMER AT THE LAKE is well researched and brilliantly written; presenting vulnerable yet strong characters and an awesome dog to adore. This is one of those memorable books that you will not want to pass up."

"Author Linda Barrett tackles several major topics at once in this heart warming story of love and trust. I found my attention captured quickly and could not stop reading until the last page had been turned. I read the entire story in a single sitting, and lost a lot of sleep doing so. But I have no regrets. The characters are well developed and I came to care for each one, especially Joey and Dani. An outstanding read that I highly recommend!"

5 Stars! *****
Excellent! I could not help but feel for the people Heather and Kathy helps. This book certainly opened my eyes to what goes on in broken families; not to mention how hard and frightening it is for the abused victims to seek help. All the characters are well developed and totally believable! When Heather's parents come back for a second chance, I totally understood her anger and frustration. Author Linda Barrett, once again, shows her amazing talent and brings her story to life. Highly recommended! *****
